Fact Base Inc., the innovative Tokyo-based SaaS provider behind the ZUMEN drawing management system, today announced it has successfully raised a $28.5 million Series C funding round. The financing was led by global software investment powerhouse Insight Partners, marking the firm’s inaugural investment in a Japanese company.
The significant capital injection is poised to accelerate Fact Base‘s global growth, particularly its aggressive expansion into the European market slated for 2026. This investment serves as a strong endorsement of the company’s approach to digitizing the manufacturing sector, which has traditionally been hampered by paper-based and person-dependent processes, especially among small and mid-sized firms.
Fact Base‘s core product, ZUMEN, addresses these structural challenges by centralizing technical drawings and operational data in the cloud, streamlining everything from design and information sharing to order management and production. This focus on empowering frontline factory teams has fueled remarkable growth for Fact Base, with revenue surging approximately 16-fold and its client base expanding 13 times over the past two years, reaching 12 countries.
Masataka Takeuchi, CEO of Fact Base and the company’s Founder, commented on the milestone: “We are pleased to announce that Fact Base has raised a total of 4.4 billion yen in funding from Insight Partners, a leading U.S. venture capital firm. This investment marks Insight Partners’ first-ever investment in a Japanese company, which we believe is a strong validation that our product and business have reached a standard that can compete globally.”
The new funds will facilitate strategic international hiring, targeted region-specific marketing, and the enhancement of ZUMEN’s functionality. Beyond its core drawing management features, Fact Base plans to launch new business lines, including direct procurement features and systems designed to foster inter-company collaboration, further contributing to factory automation (FA) and overall manufacturing efficiency.
Max Wolff, Managing Director at Insight Partners, highlighted the product’s value proposition: “For SME manufacturers, managing technical drawings is a manual and time-consuming process. With ZUMEN, Fact Base is not only freeing up manufacturers to perform more critical tasks – they are also creating a one-stop shop that minimizes manual searches, reduces errors, and accelerates time-to-delivery. We are delighted to partner with Fact Base on this exciting next chapter in their growth journey.”
Fact Base, which has grown its headcount sixfold in two years and operates 11 offices globally, is actively hiring across key functions—including engineering, sales, and customer success—as it prepares for a future public offering, demonstrating its commitment to realizing its mission of “making manufacturing seamless worldwide.”
💡 Editorial View: Exporting Japanese Manufacturing Excellence Through SaaS
The investment by Insight Partners into Fact Base is a powerful signal of the global recognition for Japan’s potential to innovate at the industrial software level. While Japan’s manufacturing heritage is legendary for its quality and kaizen (continuous improvement), many small and mid-sized enterprises have struggled to adopt digital transformation (DX) quickly, constrained by labor shortages and reliance on older, analog methods. Fact Base offers a highly targeted, accessible solution to this fundamental problem.
By focusing initially on the simple yet universally critical function of drawing management via ZUMEN, Fact Base provides an immediate, tangible return on investment: less time wasted searching for information, fewer errors, and faster delivery. This strategy of solving a painful, core operational issue is why their growth has been so explosive across Asia and North America. Their expansion into Europe and the planned addition of procurement and collaboration features positions Fact Base to become an essential, interconnected operating system for global SME manufacturing supply chains. The company is poised to redefine “manufacturing excellence from Japan” by exporting a uniquely Japanese dedication to efficiency and quality, embodied in an elegant SaaS platform, thereby bridging the global demand for supply chain resilience with digital infrastructure.
