IMTC Captures $12M Series A to Revolutionize Fixed Income Management: Lord Abbett Takes Strategic Stake

Russell Feldman, CEO of IMTC

IMTC, a specialized fintech provider focused on streamlining fixed income technology for the buy-side, today announced the successful closure of a $12 million Series A funding round. The financing was led by Nyca Partners, a premier venture capital firm dedicated to financial technology innovation, signaling sustained confidence in IMTC’s hyper-efficient business model.

In a key strategic move, Lord, Abbett & Co. LLC (Lord Abbett), an independent, privately held global asset management firm and a client of IMTC, joined the round as a strategic investor. This investment marks Lord Abbett’s first-ever equity stake in a fintech partner, underscoring the vital role IMTC’s cloud-native platform plays in enabling large-scale optimization of fixed income portfolios.

The round also saw participation from Tribeca ESP (Tribeca Early Stage Partners, specializing in early-stage fintech) and several existing investors, affirming the company’s trajectory in a rapidly expanding market. The fixed income Separately Managed Account (SMA) market is experiencing unprecedented growth, with taxable fixed income SMAs alone seeing $16 billion in flows in Q4 2024—surpassing the previous two years combined.

Doug Sieg, Managing Partner at Lord Abbett, stated that the investment is a testament to the platform’s capability: “This investment underscores our commitment to IMTC and confidence in their leadership in fixed income technology. Their powerful platform delivers significant results for SMA managers, and we believe our partnership will accelerate industry innovation and enable us to deliver expanded, personalized solutions to clients in this evolving marketplace.”

IMTC’s cloud-native portfolio and order management system is transforming how asset and wealth management firms handle fixed income assets. It provides a comprehensive, end-to-end suite of tools that automate manual workflows, reducing the time required to optimize bond portfolios by more than 95%, according to the company.

Hans Morris, Managing Partner at Nyca Partners, highlighted the firm’s renewed commitment: “Nyca’s continued support of IMTC highlights their exceptional ability to transform how the SMA market operates. Their forward-thinking approach to automating workflows and enabling scale for asset managers is a key driver in advancing efficiency, client service, and long-term growth in this segment.”

The fresh capital will be used to further accelerate product development, scale operations, and expand the team to serve IMTC’s growing client base.

Russell Feldman, CEO of IMTC, expressed gratitude for the backing: “We thank Nyca, Lord Abbett, and our other dedicated investors for their commitment to IMTC as it further validates our platform, vision and commitment to making the fixed income market more efficient.”

đź’ˇ Editorial View: Automating Alpha in Fixed Income’s Next Chapter

The IMTC Series A funding round, defined by the strategic participation of Lord Abbett, represents a powerful moment of technological maturation within the fixed income sector. For decades, bond portfolio management has been characterized by fragmented systems, reliance on spreadsheets, and manual, time-consuming workflows. IMTC’s platform is not merely digitizing these processes; it is fundamentally altering the economics of fixed income management by embedding dynamic portfolio construction and automation capabilities at the core of the workflow.

The market opportunity, particularly within Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs), is massive, with municipal fixed income assets alone estimated at $1.2 trillion. IMTC is perfectly positioned to capture this growth, as its cloud-native architecture allows asset managers to deliver hyper-customized solutions—like tax-optimized or personalized strategies—at a scale previously impossible. Lord Abbett’s transition from a client to a strategic investor is the ultimate testament to the platform’s value proposition. This partnership signals that the future of fixed income alpha generation will be powered by highly automated, connected, and compliant technology that frees portfolio managers from administrative burden to focus on complex, high-value investment decisions. IMTC is building the essential digital infrastructure for fixed income’s continued evolution towards mass customization and efficiency.
