Italian traveltech startup Mapo Tapo has successfully raised €1.15 million in Seed funding, a significant milestone that promises to propel its innovative outdoor adventure booking platform into new heights. Established in late 2020, Mapo Tapo has carved a niche for itself by enabling outdoor sports enthusiasts to book adventures with certified guides while also connecting with fellow adventurers to enrich their experiences.
This funding round was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Argo acceleration program, part of the CDP Venture Capital Network, and backed by corporate partners including Intesa Sanpaolo, Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, and Human Company. The investment includes a follow-on contribution of €200,000 from Argo, and additional support from Banca Finint and other notable investors, including business angels.
Mapo Tapo has also benefited from €400,000 in funding through the “Smart and Start” program from Invitalia and supplementary contributions from the Ministry of Tourism. “The Italian ecosystem, although sometimes complex, offers numerous opportunities for raising funds,” noted Daniele Calvo Pollino, CEO of Mapo Tapo. He emphasized the critical role of their partners, stating, “Combining different funding sources can result in an ideal strategy, reducing dilution. CDP Venture Capital, Zest, and the Ministry of Tourism have been essential partners, not only financially but also from a strategic and operational standpoint.”
The platform continues to expand its offering, providing a wide range of experiences from climbing adventures across Europe to over 100 activities worldwide, including hiking, mountaineering, high-altitude expeditions, snowshoeing, and freeride skiing. The newly acquired capital will enhance user registration on the platform and further develop technology that supports local certified sports guides.
