BOOOM Microfund Launches with €17M to Propel 30 European Startups in B2B Software

BOOOM, a newly established microfund, has announced a €17 million investment initiative aimed at fueling the growth of early-stage B2B software startups across Europe. Led by Felix Plapperer, former Partner at SquareOne and now General Partner at BOOOM, the fund plans to allocate between €100,000 and €400,000 per startup, targeting companies at angel-only rounds, Pre-seed, and Seed stages.

The fund has garnered substantial backing from institutional investors and prominent founders of unicorn scale-ups such as Celonis, Coupa Software, King.com, and Flix. Additionally, leading VC firms including Accel, Creandum, and Index Ventures have partnered with BOOOM to support its mission of fostering innovation in the B2B software sector.

Felix Plapperer emphasized BOOOM’s unique approach, stating, “The core idea of BOOOM is to enrich the ‘traditional venture capital product’ with the learnings and advice of accomplished company builders & operators.” This strategy aims to provide early-stage founders with a distinct advantage through a comprehensive mix of network, expertise, and practical experience.

Julius Köhler, co-founder of sennder and a key figure in BOOOM’s ecosystem, highlighted the strategic alignment between the fund and operational expertise. “Joining forces with Plapperer on BOOOM creates a complementary set-up on the investment and founder-support side,” Köhler remarked.

BOOOM’s portfolio companies will benefit from a robust network of unicorn operators and founders, gaining access to mentoring from David Nothacker, Julius Köhler, and Nicolaus Schefenacker, co-founders of sennder. This mentorship program spans 12 to 18 months, offering invaluable insights into scaling VC-backed enterprises.

The fund has already made strategic investments in pioneering startups such as Timberhub, Ankar AI, and Spread AI, aligning with its commitment to support transformative innovations in sectors like timber trade facilitation, AI licensing, and digital twin creation for engineering products in automotive and aerospace industries.

BOOOM aims to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of European B2B software startups, leveraging its extensive network and expertise to propel these ventures towards sustainable growth and global impact.
