S&P Global has announced the appointment of Martina L. Cheung as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2024. Ms. Cheung, currently serving as President of S&P Global Ratings, will succeed Douglas L. Peterson, who will retire after a distinguished tenure.
Martina L. Cheung brings a wealth of experience and leadership to her new role, having joined S&P Global in 2010 and holding various pivotal positions within the organization. As President of S&P Global Ratings, she has been instrumental in driving growth and innovation across the division, overseeing operations globally and enhancing the company’s strategic direction.
Ms. Cheung has been recognized for her transformative leadership in navigating complex market landscapes and fostering sustainability initiatives within S&P Global. She spearheaded the company’s sustainable growth strategy, positioning S&P Global as a leader in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles and initiatives.
Throughout her career, Martina L. Cheung has been a champion of diversity and inclusion, advocating for equitable practices within the financial and corporate sectors. Her contributions extend beyond S&P Global, where she has served on influential boards and committees, including the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s subcommittee on Climate-Related Market Risk.

Martina L. Cheung holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce and a Master’s Degree in Business Studies from the National University of Ireland, Galway. She is actively involved in industry forums and has been recognized for her contributions to advancing leadership and innovation in global finance.
