In a significant stride towards transforming B2B distribution across Europe, Finnish startup Droppe has announced the successful closure of a €3.9 million seed funding round. Led by esteemed early-stage venture capital firm OpenOcean, the funding round saw participation from notable figures including Miki Kuusi and Marianne Vikkula of Wolt, Ilkka Paananen of Supercell, and Robert Gentz of Zalando, through Illusian Ventures, alongside Lifeline Ventures, Droppe’s previous investor.
Founded on the vision of simplifying B2B procurement, Droppe’s Source-to-Order platform offers businesses a seamless solution to source, order, and manage essential supplies such as safety equipment, workwear, paper, and packaging materials directly from suppliers. By facilitating direct shipment from suppliers to businesses, Droppe eliminates the inefficiencies of intermediary storage and repackaging, thus creating shorter and more sustainable supply chains across Europe.
“This funding marks an exciting phase for Droppe, both in terms of market evolution and company growth,” remarked Johannes Salmisaari, CEO and Co-Founder of Droppe. “As technology adoption accelerates and a new generation of digital-savvy buyers emerges, we’re witnessing a shift towards more streamlined, collaborative, and digitally-driven purchasing experiences.”
With the newly secured investment, Droppe aims to enhance its platform to meet the evolving expectations of B2B customers and suppliers alike. Key focuses include expanding its supplier database, enriching product offerings, and optimizing technical product data to empower more efficient procurement decisions.
“Our goal is to empower operations and procurement teams across Europe with greater control over their supply chain management,” explained Henrik Helenius, Co-Founder of Droppe. “We’re committed to supporting businesses in achieving operational efficiency while advancing their sustainability goals through smarter procurement practices.”
Since its inception in 2020, Droppe has rapidly expanded its footprint, serving over 1,500 companies throughout Europe with a strong presence in the Nordics and the DACH region. Over 150 European brands specializing in essential operational supplies have embraced Droppe’s innovative platform, leveraging its capabilities to tap into online markets and explore new avenues for growth.
Tom Henriksson, General Partner at OpenOcean, emphasized the transformative impact of Droppe’s platform on both buyers and brands. “Droppe not only revolutionizes distribution channels but also empowers brands with actionable insights to drive market expansion and strategic growth across Europe,” Henriksson noted. “We are confident in the vision and capability of Droppe’s founders to deliver compelling solutions that cater to businesses of all scales.”
Looking ahead, Droppe plans to bolster its commercial operations by expanding its team across Helsinki and Cologne. This strategic expansion aims to strengthen support for its growing customer base and enhance the platform’s capabilities in meeting the diverse needs of European businesses.
With a commitment to innovation and sustainability at its core, Droppe stands poised to redefine the landscape of B2B distribution, offering a sophisticated yet user-friendly platform that equips businesses with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly digital marketplace.
